FarmCon 21 - Day-3
This was the final day of FarmCon 21 when Giants tell about new features of the game. Today, they have said about the landscaping, branded buildings, productions chains, sound improvements, and vehicle cabins in the game. Let's break them down to the core for better understanding.
Landscaping:
There is a huge improvement in the landscaping feature in Farming Simulator 22. It was made easier than the previous game, Farming Simulator 19. There is a huge selection in the varieties of fences in the game. The fences can be placed by touching one point, dragging them, and choosing the end-point. Fences also come with respective fence gates which can be placed wherever you want to. Buildings and other placements can be placed very easily on the map. Modifiable terrain also makes the scenery around us look good according to our liking.
Farm buildings:
Most of the placeables, buildings, production chains, and farm pens come branded in the game. The major brand for buildings in the game is Rudolf Hhorman, a German brand. Animal pens are available with buildings or simply with fences. The buildings have options to include natural lighting and solar panels. The BGA's in the game are also branded. They are available commonly on the map or can be constructed for separate use. All of these placements are very easy to place and remove as Giants have shown in their live stream. Apart from these buildings, the game also features placeable trees, lamp-posts, grass, shrubs, and many more.
Passive income:
The main sources of income in the game for the farmer are by selling the harvested crop, selling the next level of goods produced by owned production chains, animal products, etc. In Farming Simulator 22, beehives, generators, and solar panels were added to the game to make more money. Branded greenhouses are also added to the game to grow some crops by horticulture. All these products can be sold directly or by converting to the next level products by production chains.
Easy building and placing:
As we have already talked about above, Farming Simulator 22 features more placeables that are branded. In Farming Simulator 19, we have had a lot of trouble with placeables. While placing them, we often do not like the way it turns out. All of this will become easier in Farming Simulator 22. Building placeables, and decorating your farm is a lot easier when compared to the previous games. Even if you do not like the way in which your buildings are placed, you can easily remove them by selling them. You can modify the terrain back to how it was originally with the help of the new options included in the game.
New crops:
Farming Simulator 22 features three new crops: Sorghum, grapes, and olives.
Sorghum is one of the most popular crops in the United States. It is treated just the way of other grain crops in the Farming Simulator games. It can be converted to flour by grinding it in the mill, one of the production chains. It can then be used for preparing other products. It is harvested the same way wheat, canola, soybeans, etc. are harvested. Speaking of harvesting, Farming Simulator 22 has the new feature of combine harvester headers adjusting itself to the terrain slope.
One of the new and different crops among the three new in the game is grapes. They are placed directly on a field as placements. They require special care, unlike all the other crops. It has its own special harvester to harvest it. A special cultivator is used to till the soil in between the grapevines. After a harvest, a special cutting machine is used to cut the foliage of the vines after a harvest. They also have their own fertilizing machines to take care of them. Giants have worked closely with New Holland to make this possible. Grape juice can be produced by processing grapes in the production chains.
Olives are also planted and harvested similarly to grapes with all their special equipment. Olives can be processed in one of the production chains to make olive oil, as we have seen in the screenshots. Apart from these, the game has the root crops potatoes and sugarbeets just as in the previous games.
Crop calendar:
With seasons coming in the game, there is huge excitement about the game. The newest information is that seasons can be turned off in the game to make the gameplay having summer all time. There is also a feature of having seasons turned on but having the ability to plant and harvest any type of crops during the seasonal cycle. The new crop calendar which comes with the game shows all the details about when crops should be grown and harvested respectively. Crops should be sold after the winter season to get maximum profits, Giants said. Till then, they need to be stored.
Tractor cabins and sound improvements:
Giants showed that Farming Simulator 22 features realistic windscreen wipers in all windows of tractors as well as other vehicles. The massive sound improvements also make the game more realistic. Sounds for trees falling, creaking sounds while driving vehicles, sounds of moving vehicle seats, sounds of trailers tipping, etc. are included in the game.
